Research findings
Our first step into the User Center Design process is to set interviews with three college students. We asked about their current social life post-COVID, their participation in events around their school or communities, and the types of applications they use to learn about the social events. Our research helped us better understand our users and define the problem to design a solution. The research helped us understand user characteristics, goals, and desires later used to create provisional and polished personas.

Through our individual research, we were able to identify several user pain points
-
Users need updated information on events arranged based on their interests.
-
Not enough interest or filter options to find events.
-
Event reminders for users to look back and edit in own personal schedules.
Personas
Personas were created taking into consideration all the team findings from our research from the previous step to create different representations of our users. We created two provisional personas by drafting different goals, desires, and characteristics. This provides information on who we are designing for to later provide a polished persona. Creating personas helped us understand our focus and our users to provide specific features in our platform. Information for the personas based on our findings helped guide the scenarios into the sequence of events that was later focused on our user journey map.

User Journey Map
Our user journey map empathizes with our users based on their goals, desires, and characteristics, following a period of time before they are introduced to our design solution. It focuses on one of our personas Spencer Shae, a 22-year-old post-college graduate from New York who was offered a job in Washington. Our user journey map details his actions and emotions from graduating college mid-pandemic to moving to a new state. The user journey map helped us identify areas of focus where our users might feel before having our platform as a design solution.

Storyboard
Our storyboards were created taking into account critical path scenarios from our user journey map. Storyboards helped us evaluate potential design solutions within the context of our user's working environment. This was the first time we also started planning the design to create our paper prototype for our application, keeping in mind information that was necessary and fixable.
